RESOLUTION NO. 2011- 03 <br /> A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE DESIGNATION OF THE SYLVAN BEACH <br /> PAVILION AS A STATE ARCHEOLOGICAL LANDMARK; FINDING <br /> COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> WHEREAS, the Texas Historical Commission has received an application from the <br /> Friends of Sylvan Beach Park & Pavilion requesting that the Sylvan Beach Pavilion he <br /> designated a State Archeological Landmark; <br /> WHEREAS, Judge Ed Emmett, on behalf of Harris C 1t/ has requested that the <br /> designation he disapproved or delayed until the resto i it the pavilbu. i)mplete; <br /> (.9 <br /> WHEREAS, Harris County has requested th� h - 'ity of 1, rte loin them in their <br /> q <br /> opposition to this designation; <br /> c \ P °( <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RE. ,n 1 ED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> '1 )F LA PORTE: <br /> Section 1. The City of La Porte pposes the designation of the Sylvan Beach Pavilion as <br /> a State Archeological Landmar . <br /> Section 2. The City Co ncil officially finds, determines, recites and declares that a <br /> sufficient written notic of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City <br /> Council is posted at a dace convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City for the <br /> time required by law preceding this meeting. as required by the Chapter 551, "1'x. Gov't <br /> Code; and that this meeting has been open to the public as required by law at all times <br /> during which this resolution and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, <br /> considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and <br /> confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. <br /> Section 3. This Resolution shall he effective upon its passage and approval. <br /> Passed by the City Council this 28' day of March, 2011. <br />
