<br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. ~"It <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE <br />YEAR 2003 BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN TRAIL IMPLEMENTATION PLAN <br />FOR THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte recognizes the need for a Bicycle Pedestrian Trail Implementation <br />Plan ("the Plan") to provide goals, assessments, standards, recommendations and strategies for <br />implementation over a fifteen year period in an effort to identify a city-wide network of trails and possible <br />connections to neighboring communities, including additional park trails, connection trails, hike & bike <br />trails, equestrian trails, and nature trails for the City, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the primary objective of lithe Plan" is to provide bicycle and pedestrian transportation and recreational <br />services desired by citizens of La Porte, incorporate trails and paths in open spaces and preserve natural <br />resources, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order to address the bicycle and pedestrian transportation and recreational needs in the future, the City <br />of La Porte has sought input from the citizens of La Porte through surveys, meetings with key user groups, <br />workshop meetings, public input meetings, and the Parks and Recreation staff; and that input has been <br />incorporated into lithe Plan"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, "the Plan" complies with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department grant guidelines which require parks and <br />recreation needs to be prioritized and addressed in an action plan format; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, lithe "Plan" complies with guidelines of the Urban Parks and Recreation Recovery Action Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council determines that lithe Plan" is reasonable, having taken into consideration the results of the <br />studies conducted by Halff Associates for the City of La Porte; NOW THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS: <br /> <br />I. <br />That the Year 2003 Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail Implementation Plan for the City of La Porte, Texas, is hereby <br />officially adopted, attached hereto and incorporated herein for all intents and purposes. <br />II. <br />A multi-year Action Plan has been developed to prioritize implementation of the Year 2003 Bicycle and Pedestrian <br />Trail Implementation Plan, as outlined, provide guidance in the application of General Obligation Bond funding, and <br />suggest alternative funding mechanisms.
