Depth of Cover (See Table 3.2) <br /> <br />I. <br /> <br />Provide the minimum depths of cover shown in Table 3.2 from the top of natural <br />ground behind the curb for curb-and-gutter streets, or from the lowest elevation <br />of the nearby ditch bottom for roadside ditch street sections whichever is <br />applicable unless a variation is granted by the Director of Planning or his <br />designated appointee. <br />Whenever possible, changes in grade or alignment to clear utilities or <br />underground features should be accomplished by deflecting pipe joints. The <br />max.imum designed deflection shall be Y2 of the manufacturer's allowable <br />deflection. The use of regular bends for any change of grade shall not be <br />allowed except when prior approval is obtained from the Director of Planning or <br />his designated appointee. <br />Ifa depth greater than 8 feet or less than 4 feet to the top of the pipe is proposed, <br />a ductile iron or other comparable high hoop strength material pipe shall be used <br />and continued for all areas the depth of cover exceeds 8 feet or is less than 4 <br />feet. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />a. All transitions from ductile iron pipe to approved water main materials shall <br />be constructed using electrically isolated flange joints. <br />b.
