This new map will utilize our GIS based computer technology and become the "official" or working
map that shows current zoning districts based on all approved amendments to date. The "original" zoning
map, on file with the City Secretary, will not be affected at all by this action. The previous "official"
zoning map would be retained and preserved with all available records pertaining to its adoption and
amendments.

The new official zoning district map has some excellent features, e.g. easier to determine the zoning
boundaries, shows actual parcels of data from the Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD), and
identifies actual ownership lines. .

The Planning and Zoning Commission, at their meeting on January 20, 2005, voted unanimously to
recommend City Council adopt a resolution to approve a new official zoning district map wi GIS
applications.

Action Reauired bv Council:
1. Adopt a resolution replacing the zoning map with a new GIS based official zoning map.

Approved for City Council Ae:enda

cf)ljg;,ldg~~

Debra Brooks Feazetle, City Manager

01-2-05

Date
