RESOLUTION 2020-15 <br /> • <br /> THE STATE OF TEXAS § <br /> § KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: <br /> COUNTY OF HARRIS § <br /> RESOLUTION AND ORDER <br /> WHEREAS, the City of La Porte, La Porte Independent School District, Harris County, <br /> Harris County, and San Jacinto Community College District ("Taxing Authorities") <br /> foreclosed on a property ("the property") through a delinquent tax lawsuit and judgment <br /> identified as follows: <br /> Lots 27 and 28, Block 90, Town of La Porte, according to the map or plat <br /> thereof recorded in the Map Records of Harris County, Texas and also <br /> described in Volume 2133, Page 485, Deed Records of Harris County,Texas, <br /> Texas and commonly described as 423 N. Fifth Street, La Porte,Texas 77571. <br /> HCAD Account No.023-209-000-0027 <br /> WHEREAS, the Taxing Authorities remained unpaid after exhausting all legal means to <br /> satisfy the collection of the delinquent taxes due and owing to the Taxing Authorities, <br /> and a tax sale of the property was scheduled to be conducted by the Harris County <br /> Constable; <br /> WHEREAS, At the Harris County Constable's tax sale on May 4, 1999, there were no <br /> bids for the property, and the property was struck-off to the City of La Porte, as Trustee <br /> for itself and the other Taxing Authorities, in order to secure the payment of taxes, <br /> penalties, interest and costs owed to all Taxing Authorities participating in the <br /> foreclosure judgment; <br /> WHEREAS, the City of La Porte, as Trustee for itself and the other Taxing Authorities, <br /> received a tax resale bid for the property in 2005, and the private tax resale bid was <br /> approved by the City of La Porte City Council in 2005. A tax resale deed was executed <br /> by Mayor Alton Porter conveying the property to Zion Baptist Church on August 9, <br /> 2005; <br /> WHEREAS, Zion Baptist Church failed to filed the original tax resale deed with the <br /> Harris County Clerk's Office and no longer has possession of the original tax resale deed. <br /> WHEREAS, Zion Baptist Church has respectfully requested that the City of La Porte <br /> execute a replacement tax resale deed to replace the tax resale deed that was not filed and <br /> was ultimately lost. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,IT IS ORDERED by the City of La Porte: <br /> 1. That all of the above paragraphs are true, correct and in the best interest of the <br /> City of La Porte and all the other Taxing Authorities,and as such they are hereby <br /> incorporated in full and made part of this Resolution; <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br />
