Askins, Assistant City Attorney <br />CALL TO ORDER — Mayor Pro Tern Bentley presided and called the meeting to order at 6:07 p.m. <br />CouncilDerson Gillett moved to reauire all Dersons attendina the meetina to wear a mask. CouncilDerson <br />Gillett amended his motion to onlv include those sittina at the dais: the motion was adopted. 7-2, <br />Councilpersons Garza and Earp voting against. Mayor Pro Tern Bentley recessed the Council at 6:16 p.m. <br />The Council reconvened at 6:19 p.m. and Mayor Pro Tern Bentley had the Sergeant at Arms to escort <br />Councilperson Garza from the room. <br />2. INVOCATION AND PLEDGES - The invocation was given by Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins, and <br />pledges were led by Councilperson Brandon Lunsford. <br />3. CITIZEN COMMENT (Generally limited to five minutes per person; in accordance with state law, <br />the time may be reduced if there is a high number of speakers or other considerations.) <br />Jami Rodriguez, Susy Smith, Carole Kimbel, Gene Sanchez, and Robert Guy spoke in support of <br />reopening the Fairmont Park West pool. Chuck Rosa spoke against wearing masks. Randy Rowan asked <br />questions about the Fairmont Park West pool and park. <br />4. CONSENT AGENDA (Approval of Consent Agenda items authorizes each to be implemented in <br />accordance with staff recommendations provided. An item may be removed from the consent <br />agenda and added to the Statutory Agenda for full discussion upon request by a member of the <br />Council present at this meeting.) <br />a. Approve the minutes of the June 8, 2020, City Council meeting. [Mayor Louis R. Rigby] <br />b. Accept a dedication deed from Bayway Homes, Inc. to the City of La Porte, Texas, of a public <br />alley right-of-way to be situated in Block 103, Town of La Porte, located between N. 6th Street <br />and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
