Mr. Alexander,
While I understand we have to have an agreement in place being in City of La Porte's ETJ. While
I do not think that the City has a right to apply rules to property that it does not provide
services for, or to demand an agreement under threat of being annexed. The current Texas
Local Government Codes provides Cities the, power to do this, but if the Legislature makes
changes then the Cities and Company should have to abide by those changes.
For the City to put a waiver for the "COMPANY" and back date it a year before new IDA goesin
affect in the agreement is not right. The City Council does not represent any " COMPANY " in
the ETJ, they represent the Citizens of La Porte and rightfully so.
Like I said there is no City services provided to this property. If I were to have a theft, Harris
County. Sheriff comes out. And I am sure the City has a contract with Harris County to provide -
Fire and Ambulance service in the ETJ. We pay Harris County Taxes to provide these services.
I went to the first and only meeting ( that I knew about ) over this agreement. There was a lot of
discussion over several items, but most were put off on City Council as being responsible for
those. Maybe it would have been better to have had a meeting with all parties involved with
this agreement.
We are all looking to -be good neighbors.
Thank you,
Richard Barnes
2101 Paintbrush Ave
League City, TX 77573
Ph. 713-899-0596
