<br />AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE EASTERN
<br />THIRTY (39) FEET OF THE NORTH 18TH STREET R.IGRT-OF-WAY, SITUATED
<br />BETWEEN THE NORTH E STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY AND THE SOUTHERNMOST
<br />LINE OF THE MADISON STREET RIGHTOFWAY, LOCATED IN BLOCKS 642 AND
<br />643, TOWN OF LA PORTS, AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION AND DELIVERY
<br />OF A DEED TO THE ADJOINING LANDOWNER; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH
<br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; CONTAINING A SEVERADD"Y CLAUSE;
<br />CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
<br />HEREOF.
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte has been requested by the record owner of
<br />the property abutting the eastern thirty (30) feet of the North 18a' Street right-of-way situated
<br />between the North E Street right-of-way and the southernmost line of the Madison Street right-of-
<br />way, located in Blocks 642 and 643, Town of La Porte, and containing 14,399 square feet, to
<br />vacate, abandon and close said right -of way, and;
<br />WMWAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte has determined and does hereby find,
<br />determine, and declare that the eastern thirty (30) fbet of North IS* Street right-of-way situated
<br />between the North E Street right-of-way and the southernmost line of the Madison Street right-of-
<br />way, located in Blocks 642 and 643, Town of La Porte, and containing 14,399 square feet, is not
<br />00 suitable, needed, or beneficial to the public as a public mad, street, or galley, and the closing of the
<br />eastern thirty (30) feet of the North 10 Street right-of-way situated between the North E Street
<br />right-of-way and the southernmost line of the Madison Street right-of-way, located in Blocks 642
<br />cv and 643, Town of La Porte, and containing 14,399 square feet, is for the protection of the public
<br />c) and for the public interest and benefit, and that the eastern thirty (30) fleet of the North 10 Street
<br />o right-of-way situated between the North E Street right-of-way and the southernmost line of the
<br />cv Madison Street right-of-way, located in Blocks 642 and 643, Town of La Porte, should be vacated,
<br />CL abandoned, and pe nanently closed.
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CTfY OF LA PORTE:
<br />Secdon I. Under and by virtue of the power granted to the City of La Porto under its home rule
<br />curter. Chapter 62 of the City of La Porte Code of Ordinances and Chapter 253, Texas
<br />Local Government Code, the eastern thirty (30) feet of the North I8m Street rtghtrof-
<br />way situated between the North E Street right-of-way and the southermnost lime of the
<br />Madison Street right-of-way, located in Blocks 642 and 643, Town of La Porte, and
<br />containing 14,399 square Beet, is hereby permanently vacated, abandoned, and closed
<br />by the City of La Porte, and: right-of-way being generally illustrated on Exhibit "A"
<br />incorporated herein, and furdw described to wit:
<br />BEING A TRACT OF LAND CONTAINING 0.3306 ACRES (14,399 SQUARE FEET),
<br />SITUATED IN TIRE L HUNTER SURVEY, ABSTRACT 35, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS,
<br />BEING PART OF 18TH STREET (60.00 FEET WIDE) AND PART OF MADISON STREET
<br />(90.00 FEET WIDE) OF THE 'DOWN OF LA PORTE SUBDIVISION, A SUBDIVISION
<br />RECORDED IN VOLUME 58, PAGE 460 OF THE MAP RECORDS OF HARRIS COUNTY,
<br />TEXAS. SAID 0.3306-ACRE TRACT BEINO MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED BY
<br />METMS AND BOUNDS AS FOLLOWS:
