ORDINANCE NO. 2023-3950 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING A PRESIDING JUDGE AND ALTERNATE JUDGE FOR THE <br />MUNICIPAL COURT OF RECORD IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; CONTAINING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE, FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS ACT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of La Porte, Texas, hereby appoints Janikka E. <br />Bratton as the Presiding Judge of the Municipal Court of Record in the City of La Porte, Texas, for <br />the remainder of the unexpired four (4) year term established in Ordinance 2020-3799 for the office <br />of Presiding Judge of the Municipal Court of Record in the City of La Porte, Texas, effective <br />September 25, 2023, due to the resignation of Denise C. Mitrano from such office. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of La Porte, Texas, hereby appoints Denise C. <br />Mitrano as Alternate Judge of the Municipal Court of Record in the City of La Porte, Texas, for a <br />term of two (2) years, which term shall commence on September 2-5, 2023, and expire on September <br />30, 2025. <br />Section 3. The Presiding Judge shall receive compensation as may be fixed by the City <br />Council. <br />Section 4. If any section, sentence, phrase, clause or any part of any section, sentence, <br />phrase or clause of this ordinance shall, for any reasons, be held invalid, such invalidity shall not <br />affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and it is hereby declared to be the intention of this <br />City Council to have passed each section, sentence, phrase or clause, or part thereof, irrespective of <br />the fact that any other section, sentence, phrase or clause, or part thereof, may be declared invalid. <br />
