The City of La Porte and the
La Porte Area Water Authority (LPAWA) has maintained a DCP since the inception of the rule in
1999. The purpose of a DCP is to have a written plan to establish temporary measures to minimize
the adverse impacts from water supply shortage for any reason, including a drought. The plan
defines procedures to manage and conserve the available water supply with regard for domestic
water use, sanitation, and fire protection.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires that the plan be reviewed
every 5 years and updated as needed. During the most recent review, some simple clarifications
were made to the language of the plan. No changes have been made to the trigger conditions or
specific targets for water use reduction.
Every drought contingency plan must include certain elements to be considered complete. One
of the elements is to allow opportunity for public involvement and input.
SHOULD A QUORUM OF THE COUNCIL ATTEND,
NO DELIBERATION OR FORMAL ACTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL
WILL BE TAKEN AT THIS EVENT.
DATE POSTED: 9/13/24
TIME POSTED: 8:30 P.M.
TAKEN DOWN:
/YrtaarL
Lee Woodward, City Secretary
