Staff will continue <br />other best practices for disinfection of public areas and frequently touched surfaces. <br />Under CRF, expenses for disinfection of public buildings are an eligible expense. Staff <br />has received preliminary approval from Harris County for this project. <br />Staff is proposing installation of UV-C lamps in each Air Handling Unit of HVAC systems <br />at the following locations: <br />• Brookglen Community Center <br />• Charles Walker Community Center <br />• City Hall <br />• EMS Station <br />• Evelyn Kennedy Civic Center <br />• Fire Stations <br />• Fire Training Facility <br />• Golf Course <br />• Jennie Riley Community Center <br />• Library <br />• Lomax Concession <br />• Municipal Court <br />• Police Department <br />• Public Works <br />• Recreation and Fitness Center, including Senior Center <br />• Special Programs Center <br />• Sylvan Beach Depot <br />Staff recommends utilizing an approved BuyBoard vendor (Contract #552-17) to <br />expedite the purchasing process in order to meet CRF program deadlines. Staff will <br />work with the vendor to initiate the project as soon as possible. <br />Benefits: Installation of UV-C lamps in Air Handling Units will be beneficial to improving <br />the overall environment of City facilities. UV-C is very effective in reducing the spread <br />of bacteria, inactivating certain viruses, and limiting airborne transmission of pathogens. <br />UV-C lighting of this type is commonly used in hospitals and clinics. <br />Liabilities: Maintenance costs; The UV-C lamps have an effective life of two (2) years. <br />Lamps will need to be replaced every two (2) years at a total cost of approximately <br />$15,000. Every other year, staff will need to include $15,000 in the annual budget for <br />lamp replacement. <br />Staff recommends approval of Quote No. OPP0076381 to TDlndustries under <br />BuyBoard Contract #552-17 for the purchase and installation of a UV-C Light <br />Sterilization System at City facilities. <br />ACTION REQUIRED BY CITY COUNCIL <br />
