The program offered matching grants of up to $25,000 for businesses in the Main Street Overlay District to improve building facades. The project was allotted $200,000and $168,000 is currently available. The goals of the project were to beautify Main Street, to enhance Main Street’s appeal to new businesses and visitors, and to add value to the City of La Porte. Kathleen Lemon, owner of Eiland, Lemon, and Pierce, P.C.,was conditionally awarded with a grant not to exceed $17,845 by the La Porte Development Corporation Board in May 2012. Ms. Lemon has submitted receipts for the completed work, which totals $36,090 and is slightly more than what was originally approved by the Board due to additional landscape work. The attached photos demonstrate that the scope of work proposed in Ms. Lemon’s application has been completed. Staff is recommending disbursement of $17,845 to Ms. Lemon based on the originally approved project amount of $35,690. The property does not have any delinquent taxes owed.
