Overall, the City <br />Fairmont Park 17.70 <br />has a total of 22 23 parks and recreation facilities comprised of <br />Little Cedar Bayou 34.70 <br />playgrounds and playscapes; picnic amenities; baseball, softball, <br />Lomax 10.00 <br />soccer, football fields; basketball and other sports courts; <br />Northside Park 2.70 <br />bicycle/pedestrian/exercise/nature trails; a senior center; a <br />Northwest 25.00 <br />Special Populations Center; two bayside parks; two fishing piers; <br />a rodeo/open riding arena; three neighborhood pools and one <br />Pecan Park 33.00 <br />sprayground/playground; and other amenities. Over the past 21 <br />Community Park <br />123.10 <br />years, the City has spent close to $18 million on its parks and <br />Subtotal <br />recreation system. <br />Total 160.87164.86 <br /> <br /> <br />Source: City of La Porte. <br />In addition to the parks and recreation areas owned and <br />managed by the City, there are five school playgrounds located <br />at the elementary schools that provide additional recreation and open space <br />that is available to residents and visitors of the La Porte area. The school <br />playgrounds are displayed in Table 2.2, School Playgrounds, and tThe City <br />and the La Porte Independent School District (LPISD) have a cooperative <br />agreement that allows joint use of City and School recreations facilities.
