Return to the Parks & Recreation Office, 1322 5, Broadway Attn: Marlene Rigby The City of La Porte Parks and Recreation Department's mission is "To provide and manage superior parks and recreationa facilities, innovative programs, and services that will provide our customers with pleasure and enrichment." Your Parks & Recreation Department is working hard to make La Porte a great place to live and play. We are putting the final touches on the new San Jacinto Pool and expect it to open as soon as school lets out for the summer. In addition, we have completed work on the Central Park Hockey Rink, located on San Jacinto Street. Be on the lookout for more Friday Night Skating Parties this summer. The City of La Porte received grants from Harris County to provide a huge new piayground at Little Cedar Bayou Park, and a Pedestrian Bridge over Little Cedar Bayou that will connect the Park with the Recreation Fitness Center. Other improvements include a new playground at Lomax Park, and continued work on improvements through- out our system, including beautification projects and a new Bicycle and Pedestrian Implementation Plan for the City. Your Department has an obligation to the citizens of the City of La Porte to provide the best possible performance with the resources at our disposal. In order to meet that obligation, we are committed to the philosophy of Quality, as a driving force in our organization. We will endeavor to make Quality the guid- ing light for our activities as we move the department toward achievement of our mission. La Porte has a great parks and recreation system, from the Fitness Center, to the Special Programs Center; from a rodeo arena, to fishing piers and a wave pool.
