Proclamation of the City of La Porte <br />Suspension and Modification of Ordinances <br />WHEREAS, by proclamation issued July 7,2024, the Mayor declared a state of disaster for the <br />City of La Porte resulting from Hurricane Beryl; and, <br />WHEREAS, said state of disaster requires that certain emergency measures be taken pursuant <br />to the Executive Order of the Governor Relating to Emergency Management and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Texas Government Code Sections 418.1015(b) and 418.016, the Mayor <br />is designated as the City of La Porte's emergency management director and in such capacity <br />serves as the governor's designated agent in the administration and supervision of duties under <br />Texas Government Code Chapter 418, and may exercise powers granted to the governor on an <br />appropriate local scale, including suspension of laws and regulations. <br />Now, therefore, the following regulations are hereby adopted <br />1. SUSPENSION AND MODIFICATION OF ORDINANCES <br />(a) The following ordinances and regulations are hereby suspended or modified as indicated: <br />Ordinances Provisions related to fees for: <br />Burn Permits and fees (burn requirements still in effect however) <br />Permit fees imposed by ordinance or regulation that directly Pertain to construction <br />repairs related to Hurricane Beryl are suspended including but not limited to: <br />i. Electrical permit fees <br />ii. Plumbing permit fees <br />III. Mechanical permit fees <br />iv. Gas permit fees <br />v Building Permit fees <br />vi. Electrical permit fees. <br />(b) The suspension or modifications of the ordinances and regulations listed in Subsection <br />(a) shall remain in effect until sixty (60) days from the date this proclamation is issued, or <br />until the state of disaster for the City of La Porte is terminated, whichever is sooner. <br />2. PENALTY <br />(a) This regulation shall have the effect of an ordinance when signed by the Mayor. <br />(b) A person who violates any provision of this proclamation, upon conviction, is punishable <br />by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00). <br />& EMERGENCY <br />This ordinance shall ' t e mmediately from and after its passage and publication, and it <br />is accordingly so <br />PASSED and A PTED s he 9' day of July, 2024. <br />Rick Helton,'Mayor <br />City of La Porte, Harris County, Texas <br />
