The Department and its activities <br />are funded through the collection of a 112 cent sales tax, which must be spent on economic development <br />projects related to capital investment and job creation. Past activities have included the re- nourishment of <br />Sylvan Beach, the ball fields at Pecan Park, the library, and infrastructure improvements on Main Street. <br />In the upcoming FY 2011 -12 we will continue to budget $200,000 for enhancement grants for businesses along <br />Main Street. We will also continue to work with our regional economic development partners on business <br />retention and expansion programs, small business development, marketing efforts, workforce initiatives, <br />transportation issues and quality of life issues.
