REQUEST FOR LA PORTE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION AGENDA ITEM <br />Agenda Date Requested: 11 November 2013 <br />Requested By: Scott D_ Living%ton <br />Department: <br />Report: Resolution: Ordinance: <br />Exhibit: ICSC Deal Making Conference Program <br />Exhibit: Retail Attraction Materials and Collateral <br />Exhibit: <br />Budget <br />Source of Funds: <br />Account Number: <br />Amount Budgeted: <br />Amount Requested: <br />Budgeted Item: YES NO <br />Staff will give the 4B Board a verbal report on the ICSC Deal Making Conference, which took place in <br />Dallas, Texas, from November 5 - 8t'. <br />Enclosed with this agenda item is the final program for the conference. <br />In addition, staff will discuss plans with the 4B Board to attract new retail commercial development and <br />investment to the City of La Porte using a combination of the following items including, but not limited <br />to: <br />• Use of the new marketing themes <br />• Use of new retail campaign/advertising based upon the new marketing themes <br />• Use the new Development Map <br />• Partnerships with local brokers <br />• Website development (upload new information for retail commercial development to the website. <br />Add hyperlinks from the available parcels on the development map to real estate flyers, contact <br />information, and other site information for each parcel) <br />• Professional networking <br />• Database construction/management (MS Access/Outlook) of retailer and prospective developers <br />• Phone calls to prospective Texas developers who are primarily based in Houston and Dallas/Fort <br />Worth <br />• Phone calls to prospective retailers whose profile matches or approximates our demographics <br />• Packets of initial information by e-mail <br />• US Mail when necessary <br />• Marketing handouts/mailers <br />• Mail campaign targeting developers and retailers based primarily in Houston, San Antonio, <br />Austin, and Dallas/Fort Worth <br />• Demographic information from the Catalyst Commercial, Inc. retail study, particularly including <br />the primary trade area demographics, traffic counts, maps, and under -served retail categories <br />• Articles on growth in LaPorte, the petro -chemical industry, Houston Ship Channel, and <br />La Porte's Trade Area in general <br />
