Redistricting Committee Minutes 11-13-01 Meeting Page 2 Chairman Sidney Grant requested the Committee provide a report for their Districts during the Public Hearing. The Committee discussed and agreed the focus of the November 27, 2001 Meeting should be to prepare and review materials to be presented at the December 11, 2001 Public Hearing. The Committee would like to have an old map with population numbers and a new map with the new proposed population numbers per district and ethnic breakdown. In addition, the Committee would like to have a map of each district reflecting the new proposed district lines and population numbers. 5. DISCUSSION ON REPORT FROM BETTY WATERS ON ANNEXATION ORDINANCES AND COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND DISCUSSION ON EACH COUNCIL DISTRICT Betty Waters discussed the reports she provided to the committee and requested input. Committee members agreed they would get any comments or changes they had to Ms. Waters. 6. DISCUSSION ON POLLING LOCATIONS City Secretary Martha Gillett informed the Committee the Council recently held a workshop meeting to discuss reducing the number of polling locations. Any changes would not take affect until the May 2003 General Election. 7. PREVIOUS BUSINESS There was no previous business to be discussed. 8. NEW BUSINESS There was no new business brought forward by the committee. 9. CALENDAR Review Monthly Calendar/New Calendar Items and Deadlines/Discuss November Meeting Schedule The next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2001. A Public Hearing will be held on December 11, 2001 to allow the public to provide comments on the proposed R-009 Redistricting Map. Once the Public Hearing has been conducted and the comments of citizens have been taken in consideration, the map can be presented to City Council for approval at the January 14, 2002 City Council Meeting.
