<br /> <br />District 1 POPULATION -5,467 - (+2.90%)- {PRIOR TO REDISTRICTING-6,660) <br />Represented by Councilperson Guy Sutherland ...............10200 North L Street, La Porte, Texas <br />This district is almost completely made up of homes located on property of one half to ten acres in size. Most citizens <br />In this area have live stock of one kind or another, barns and pasture areas. <br />District I was an incorporated municipality prior to April 10, 1980. Under Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Texas, <br />Annotated, Article 1188, Consolidation of Cities, the City of Lomax, Texas became a legally represented part of the <br />City of La Porte. <br />This District is the only remaining rural area within the corporate limits of the City of La Porte. The area is bound by <br />State Hwy 225 on the north, Sens Road on the east, the south line of North H Street to the West boundry line of the <br />La Porte Municipal Airport, then vrest along Meadow Place, thence North along a natural drainage ditch (Big Island <br />Slough) to North H Street, then west along North H Street to Underwood Road and North to a place of Beginning on <br />State Highway 225. <br />There are two La Porte schools located in District 1, Lomax Elementry and Lomax Jr. High School. A light industrial <br />strip runs along the north side of District I.
