5) Expand on previous efforts to consider embellished <br />gateway treatments with more significant "signature" <br />monuments, landscaping, and lighting at the locations of <br />greatest visibility. Ensure high quality maintenance of these <br />areas, as depicted on Map 2.2, Beautification Plan. <br />1) Consider......m%lodifying existing codes to adopt <br />appropriate design standards in conformance with the San <br />Jacinto Corridor Design Standards. <br />2) Continue to work with the Economic Alliance Houston <br />Port Region and consider code modifications and other program <br />support to implement the San Jacinto Historic District design <br />standards, including the Project Stars Initiative, which uses <br />industrial infrastructure and landscaping to highlight and <br />celebrate the area's history and historical significance.3 <br />3) Consider implementing a program to publicly recognize <br />residential and business property owners for their role toward <br />enhancing the visual appearance of the City. This could include <br />monthly recognition on the City's website or other public <br />communication media. <br />A Partner with the Texas Department of Transportation <br />(TxDOT) to enhance the visual appearance of the City's existing <br />and future overpasses, as depicted on Map 2.2, Beautification <br />Plan.(see inset next page) <br />.. ......... ......... ......... <br />5)4) Continue seeking public/public and/or public/private <br />partnerships to master plan and implement site specific <br />enhancements throughout the City. By way of example, <br />continue working with the La Porte Independent School District <br />(ISD) and adjacent retail center owners to implement the <br />enhancements depicted in the Texas Avenue Beautification <br />Project Master Plan, among others. <br />6)5) .Partner with TxDOT to enhance the visual appearance of <br />the Miller Cut Off Road, Sens Road, and SR 146 interchange <br />areas.
