PlanningandZoningCommission <br />MinutesofJune19,2014 <br />Page2of3 <br />requiredtoreplatthesubjectpropertytoremovethecurrentcommercialrestrictionfromthe <br />FairmontParkEastBusinessParksubdivisionplat,withinsixmonthsfromthedateofCouncil <br />approval. <br />SecondbyCommissionerWarren.Motioncarried. <br />Ayes:CommissionersWarren,LaCour,Follis,Smith,andLawler <br />Nays: <br />Discussionorotheractionregardingcurrentandpotentialprovisionsrelatedtohotels/motels. <br />5. <br />CityPlannerEricEnseyrecappedthe/ƚƒƒźƭƭźƚƓƭrecommendationfromtheMay15,2014, <br />meetingonamendmentstothe/źƷǤƭregulationsconcerninghotel/moteldevelopment, <br />generallydescribedasfollows: <br />AmendtheCodeofOrdinances,Section106441,TableA,Footnote4,fromͻğķƆğĭĻƓƷƷƚͼto <br />ͻǞźƷŷźƓ250ŅĻĻƷͼandrequireaspecialconditionalusepermitforanyhotel/moteldevelopment <br />within250feetofanyresidentialdevelopment.Thiswouldalsoapplytohotels/motelsthatmay <br />developwithintheindustrialzones,sinceusesintheGCzoningdistrictarealsoallowedinthe <br />industrialzones. <br />TheCommissionagreedthechangesshouldbeincorporatedwiththeoverallamendmentsto <br />Chapter106oftheCodeofOrdinances. <br />Additionally,theCommissionrequestedtherebearequirementforhotel/moteldevelopments <br />toinstallsecuritycamerasatbuildingingress/egresslocations.Staffwilldevelopverbiageto <br />thateffectforfurtherreviewbytheCommission. <br />UpdateonprogressofChapter106ZoningOrdinanceReview. <br />6. <br />CityPlannerEricEnseyprovidedtheCommissionwithadraftsetofdesignguidelinesfor <br />neighborhoodcommercial,generalcommercialandbusinessindustrialzones.The <br />subcommitteeisworkingtoincorporatetheseguidelinesintoChapter106. <br />SubcommitteemembersdiscussedtheirprogressandareplanningtopresenttheChapter106 <br />updatestotheCommissionattheJulyorAugustmeeting. <br />AdministrativeReports <br />7. <br />PlanningDirectorTimTietjenswelcomedCommissionerWyattSmithtothegroup.Mr.Tietjens <br />spokeoftheupcomingAmericanPlanningAssociationConferencebeinganexcellent <br />educationalopportunityfornewmembers. <br />CommissionCommentsonmattersappearingontheagendaorinquiryofstaffregardingspecific <br />8. <br />factualinformationorexistingpolicy. <br />CommissionerswelcomedMr.SmithtotheCommission.Mr.Smiththankedstafffortheir <br />assistanceinpreparinghimforthemeeting. <br /> <br />
