We do have one new board member to
welcome, Charlie Perry, at this meeting. Our thanks also goes to David Janda for his service to
the board over the years. As David served as board president the previous two years, we will
elect new officers at this meeting.
The primary purpose of this meeting is to review, and if appropriate, approve or approve with
conditions/comments the proposed updates to the water conservation and drought contingency
plans. Both plans are required by Texas Administrative Code to be in place and updated every
five years. A few edits are proposed to the water conservation plan update. There are quite a
few changes to the drought contingency plan learning what other communities had wrestled with
during the 2011/2012 drought. Some changes originate also with the Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality (TCEQ) model plans. The plans will also be approved by the city
councils for LaPorte, Shoreacres, and Morgan's Point, with the LaPorte city council having
final approval authority per the original enabling legislation by the Texas legislature that created
the authority. The documents are also reviewed by TCEQ.
Attached:
Texas Administrative Code governing the Water Conservation Plan
Current Water Conservation Plan
Proposed edits to the plan
Texas Administrative Code governing the Drought Contingency Plan
Current Drought Contingency Plan
Proposed edits to the plan
2963 N.23rd St. ■ La Porte,Texas 77571 ■ (281)47179650 ■ www.laportetx.gov
