Staff Report October 17, 2013 <br />Land Use Plan <br />Amendment) <br />( <br />Background: <br />During the September 19, 2013 meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission <br />considered a zone change request by Ken Schick for 17.4705 acres of land located near <br />the intersection of Sens Road and Spencer Highway. <br />The Commission heard and considered citizen input regarding rezoning of the above <br />referenced tract from GeneralCommercial (GC) to Low Density Residential (R-1) for <br />proposed single-family residential subdivision.The Commission recommended City <br />Council to approvethe zone changerequest. <br />During deliberation, the Commission voiced their concern about the underlying land <br />uses, which areinconsistent with the proposed useand called for an amendment tothe <br />Land Use Plan. The Commission advised staff to draftachange consistent with the <br />proposed land use of the property,prior to the presentation of this item to City Council. <br />Followingthe meeting, staff received the City Attorney’s advice to placethis amendment <br />to the Land Use Plan on the City Council agenda,prior to a public hearing for rezoning of <br />the subject tract. <br />Recommendation/Conclusion: <br />The Commission is asked to review an amendment to the Land Use Planand forward <br />their recommendationto Council. <br /> <br />
