City of La Porte <br />Wrecker Committee <br /> <br />Minutes of July 19, 2016 <br /> <br />Committee Members Present: Planning Director Tim Tietjens (designated representative of the City <br />Manager), Lt. Doug Ditrich (designated representative of the Police <br />Chief), and City Secretary Patrice Fogarty <br /> <br />Staff Members Present: Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins and Office Coordinator Peggy Lee <br /> <br />1. Call to order. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by Chairman Tim Tietjens at 2:35 p.m. <br /> <br />2. Roll call of members. <br /> <br />Tim Tietjens, Patrice Fogarty, and Doug Ditrich were present for roll call. <br /> <br />3. Consider approval of the October 7, 2014, meeting minutes. <br /> <br />Motion by Patrice Fogarty to approve the Minutes of October 7, 2014. <br /> <br />Second by Doug Ditrich. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />4. Conduct public hearing to consider possible action under Section 78-223 of the City of La Porte <br />Code of Ordinances to suspend, cancel, or revoke wrecker permit numbers 95 and 96 issued to <br />Taylor Towing. <br /> <br />A. Open public hearing <br /> <br />Chairman Tietjens opened the public hearing at 2:36 p.m. <br /> <br />B. Staff comments <br /> <br />Chairman Tietjens reported the City had received a string of complaints by private and public <br />individuals regarding the performance of Taylor Towing. <br /> <br />C. Public comments <br /> <br />Paul Taylor, with Taylor Towing, addressed the Committee. Mr. Taylor offered to voluntarily <br />surrender his permits because he no longer had access to a vehicle storage facility in La Porte. <br />He had been under contract to utilize A&W Jones Collision’s storage facility, but that storage <br />facility is no longer in operation. <br /> <br />D. Close public hearing <br /> <br />Chairman Tietjens closed the public hearing at 2:43 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />
