<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />JAY MARTIN CHUCK ENGELKEN <br /> <br />Chairman Member <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> JOHN ZEMANEK <br />DANNY EARP <br /> Alternate Member <br />Vice-Chairman <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES OF DRAINAGE AND FLOODING COMMITTEE <br />MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 25, 2019 <br />The Drainage and Flooding Committee of the City of La Porte met on Monday, February 25, 2019, at the City Hall <br />Council Chambers, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, at 4:30 p.m. to consider the following items of <br />business: <br />Committee Members present: Jay Martin, Danny Earp, Chuck Engelken (arrived at 4:34 p.m., following minutes <br />approval), John Zemanek (did not vote following the arrival of Member Engelken) <br />Committee Members absent: None <br />Council-appointed officers present: Corby Alexander, City Manager; Lee Woodward, City Secretary <br />1. Call to Order - Chairman Martin called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. <br />2. Authorizations <br />(a) Consider approval or other action regarding minutes of the Drainage and Flooding <br />Committee Meeting held on January 14, 2019. \[Lee Woodward, City Secretary\] <br />Committee member Zemanek moved to approve the minutes of the Drainage and Flooding Committee <br />Meeting held on January 14, 2019; the motion was unanimously adopted, <br /> <br />3. Staff Reports <br />(a) Receive report from Harris County Flood Control District regarding current and future plans <br />relating to flooding in the City of La Porte. \[Lorenzo Wingate, City Engineer and Don Pennell, <br />Public Works Director\] <br />Committee members and the City Manager discussed a desire to meet with the new County Judge and/or <br />the Commissioner to be sure La Porte’s needs continued to be properly prioritized. <br /> <br />(b) Discussion regarding status of current drainage projects. \[Lorenzo Wingate, City Engineer and <br />Don Pennell, Public Works Director\] <br />At the Committee’s request, Mr. Wingate agreed to provide more status information on reports. <br /> <br />(c) Discussion regarding Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) Hurricane Harvey <br />DR-4332 Section 404 Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding. \[Lorenzo Wingate, City <br />Engineer and Don Pennell, Public Works Director\] <br /> <br />(d) Discussion regarding additional drainage concerns and provide staff with direction. \[Lorenzo <br />Wingate, City Engineer and Don Pennell, Public Works Director\] <br />4. Set date for next Drainage and Flooding Committee Meeting <br /> <br />The next meeting date was set for March 11, 2019, if Harris County Flood Control representatives were able <br />to attend, but April 8, 2019, if not, expected to be held at 5:00 p.m. <br />5. Committee Comments <br />No comments were offered. <br />6.
