Timing is such that <br />appointments must be made at this meeting in order to complete the City's application. <br />The Fair Housing Work Group will work together to complete the State's Fair Housing Activity <br />Statement — Texas Form. In short, completion of this Form by the appointed Work Group results <br />in a locally -defined Fair Housing Action Plan. Through this Group's discussions, the locally - <br />defined Fair Housing Action Plan will result in a good plan tailored to La Porte, as well as <br />ensuring La Porte can meets its obligation to abide by Fair Housing laws and regulations and to <br />Affirmatively Further Fair Housing. <br />The Work Group should be a diverse but knowledgeable group of at least five members taken <br />from the two groupings below. Mayor Rigby or City staff should be appointed to fill the two <br />slots from Group 1. <br />Group 1: Two members from the following: <br />Chief Elected Official; City Manager or designee; and/or Planning Officer or designee. <br />Group 2: Three members who reside or work in LaPorte, and should be selected from the <br />following_groups: <br />Representative from the protected classes (race, color, religion, national original, gender, <br />presence of a disability, and familial status); Minority business leaders; affordable <br />housing providers; school district leadership, including members of the school board; <br />members from local organizations that advocate on behalf of members of the protected <br />classes (i.e. disability advocates, NAACP chapter president, etc.); developers of <br />affordable housing in LaPorte, and community based improvement associations. <br />
