REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM <br />Agenda Date Requested: January 9, 2012 <br />Requested By: Ray Nolen <br />Department: EMS <br />Report: Resolution: Ordinance: X <br />Exhibits: Ordinance <br />Exhibits: Copy of POHABCT Contract <br />Exhibits: <br />Appropriation <br />Source of Funds: N/A <br />Account Number: <br />Amount Budgeted: <br />Amount Requested: <br />Budgeted Item: YES NO <br />SUMMARY & RECOMMENDATION <br />The existing service contract for EMS services with the Port of Houston Authority — BCT <br />Facility expired on October 31, 2011 and has resorted to a month to month pending renewal. <br />This service contract has worked well for the provision of emergency medical services in the <br />past and staff would like to continue the service by renewing the contract between the City of La <br />Porte EMS and the Port of Houston Authority — BCT Facility to provide Emergency Medical <br />Service for a period of thirty-five (35) months, which is expanded from the current one year <br />term. <br />The attached 2012-15 contract is calculated at a rate of $26.86 per employee, per year. This is an <br />increase of $4.10 per employee over the previous period's negotiated rate mostly due to the cost <br />of adding a third ambulance. The total agreement amount invoiced will be based on an Average <br />Daily Population at the Barbour's Cut Facility. <br />2009-10 Revenues— Actual $25,305.00 / Calls - 29 <br />2010-11 Revenues— Actual $27,788.52 / Calls - 38 <br />2011-12 Revenues —Projected $26,616.00 <br />Attached is an ordinance authorizing the Interim City Manager to execute a contract renewal <br />with the Port of Houston Authority for Emergency Medical Service at the Barbour's Cut Facility. <br />The contract will expire on January 31, 2015. <br />Staff recommends authorizing the Interim City Manager to execute the submitted contract for <br />providing Emergency Medical Service to the Port of Houston — BCT Facility. <br />Action Required by Council: <br />Approve an Ordinance authorizing the Interim City Manager to execute a contract with the Port of <br />Houston Authority (Barbour's Cut Terminal) for the City of La Porte EMS. <br />Approved for City Council Agenda <br />Steve Gillett, Interim City Manager <br />Date <br />
