LOUIS RIGBY <br />Mayor <br />JOHN ZEMANEK <br />Councilmember At Large A <br />DOTTIE KAMINSKI <br />Councilmember At Large B <br />DANNY EARP <br />Councilmember District 1 <br />CHUCK ENGELKEN <br />Councilmember District 2 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE <br />MAY 21, 2018 <br />BILL BENTLEY <br />Councilmember District 3 <br />KRISTIN MARTIN <br />Mayor Pro-Tem <br />Councilmember District 4 <br />JAY MARTIN <br />Councilmember District 5 <br />NANCY OJEDA <br />Councilmember District 6 <br />The City Council of the City of La Porte met in a regular meeting on Monday, May 21, 2018, at the City <br />Hall Council Chambers, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, at 6:00 p.m. to consider the <br />following items of business: <br />1. CALL TO ORDER — Mayor Rigby called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Members of Council <br />present: Councilmembers Ojeda, Zemanek, J. Martin, K. Martin, Bentley, Kaminski and Engelken. <br />Absent: Councilmember Earp. Also present were City Secretary Patrice Fogarty, City Manager <br />Corby Alexander, Assistant City Manager Jason Weeks, and Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins. <br />Philip Dunn with Lighthouse Baptist Church provided an invocation, and Mayor Rigby led the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />2. TAKING OF OATH OF OFFICE BY NEWLY ELECTED OFFICIALS LOUIS R. RIGBY, CHUCK <br />ENGELKEN AND BILL BENTLEY. <br />City Secretary Patrice Fogarty administered the oath of office to newly elected Mayor, Louis R. <br />Rigby, Councilmember District 2, Chuck Engelken, and Councilmember District 3, Bill Bentley. <br />3. COUNCIL COMMENTS regarding matters appearing on the agenda; recognition of community <br />members, city employees, and upcoming events; inquiry of staff regarding specific factual <br />information. <br />Councilmembers Ojeda, J. Martin, K. Martin and Kaminski congratulated newly elected Mayor <br />Rigby, Councilmember Chuck Engelken and Councilmember Bill Bentley and also welcomed Bill on <br />his new position. <br />Councilmember Zemanek congratulated newly elected Mayor Rigby, Councilmember Chuck <br />Engelken, and Councilmember Bill Bentley and wished everyone a happy and safe Memorial Day <br />weekend. <br />Councilmember Bentley thanked Councilmembers for the warm welcome and commented he looks <br />forward to working with everyone. <br />Councilmember Engelken congratulated newly elected Mayor Rigby, and Councilmember Bill <br />Bentley, and thanked everyone for attending the meeting. <br />Mayor Rigby congratulated newly elected Councilmember Chuck Engelken and Councilmember Bill <br />Bentley, and commented the prayers worked for Councilmember Earp's speedy recovery and <br />commented everyone is looking forward to having him back, as well. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />May 21, 2018 Council Meeting Minutes <br />
