<br />ANORDINANCE APPOINTING A PRESIDING JUDGE AND ALTERNATE JUDGES FOR THE
<br />MUNICIPAL COURT OF RECORD IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, FOR A TERM OF
<br />FOUR YEARS, EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2020, AND EXPIRING SEPTEMBER 30, 2024;
<br />CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; FINDING
<br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS ACT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
<br />HEREOF.
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS:
<br />The City Council of the City of La Porte, Texas, hereby appoints Denise C.
<br />Section 1. Mitrano as the
<br />Presiding Judge of the Municipal Court of Record in the City of La Porte, Texas.
<br />The City Council of the City of La Porte, Texas, hereby appoints Dick H.
<br />Section 2. Gregg, III as Alternate
<br />Judge of the Municipal Court of Record in the City of La Porte, Texas.
<br />The City Council of the City of La Porte, Texas, hereby appoints Chris Gore
<br />Section 3. as Alternate Judge
<br />of the Municipal Court of Record in the City of La Porte, Texas.
<br />The City Council of the City of La Porte, Texas, hereby appoints John C.
<br />Section 4. Cardenas as Alternate
<br />Judge of the Municipal Court of Record in the City of La Porte, Texas.
<br />Each of the above appointees shall serve for a term of four (4) years, effective
<br />Section 5. October 1, 2020,
<br />and expiring on September 30, 2024, and shall receive compensation as may be fixed by City Council.
<br />If any section, sentence, phrase, clause or any part of any section, sentence,
<br />Section 6. phrase or clause of
<br />this ordinance shall, for any reasons, be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions
<br />of this ordinance, and it is hereby declared to be the intention of this City Council to have passed each
<br />section, sentence, phrase or clause, or part thereof, irrespective of the fact that any other section, sentence,
<br />phrase or clause, or part thereof, may be declared invalid.
<br />All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the
<br />Section 7. extent of such
<br />conflict only.
<br />Section 8. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites, and declared that a sufficient written notice
<br />of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was posted at a place convenient to
<br />the public at the City Hall of the City for the time required by law preceding this meeting, as required by the
<br />Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code; and that this meeting has been open to the public
<br />as required by law at all times during which this ordinance the subject matter thereof has been discussed,
<br />considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms such written
<br />notice and the contents and posting thereof.
<br />Section 9: This ordinance shall be effective from and after its passage and approval, and it is so ordered.
