may waive such fence, wall or other solid structure surrounding such pool on one or more sides if, in his <br />opinion, natural obstructions or barriers such: as bays, rivers, seawalls and bulkheads miake such unnecessary. <br />lEvery opening in such fence or wall shall be equipped with a self -closing and self -latching device designed to <br />keep and capable of keeping such doors or gates securely closed at all times when not in actual use. The term <br />"swimming pool" is defined as any structure, basin, chamber, tank or other receptacle capable of containing an <br />artificial body of water for swimming, diving or recreational bathing and having a depth of three feet or more. <br />(b)All plans hereafter submitted to the city for swimming pools to be constructed shall show compliance with <br />the requirements of subsection (a) of this section and the, final inspection and approval of all pools hereafter <br />constructed shall bewithheld until all requirements of section 82-634 shall have been complied with by the <br />owner, purchaser under contract, lessee, tenant or liicensee. <br />2018 International Swimming pool and Spa Code., 305.2.1 — Barrier heights and clearances shall be in <br />accordance with all of the following: <br />The top of the barrier shall be not less thian 48 inches (1219 mm) above grade where measured on the <br />side of the barrier that faces away from the pool or spa. Such height shall exist around the entire <br />perimeter of the barrier and for a distance of 3 feet ((914 mim) measured horizontally from the <br />outside of the required barrier. <br />The vertical distance between grade and the bottom, of the barrier shall not exceed 2 inches (51 mm) <br />for grade surfaces that are not solid, such as grass or grave, where measured on the side of the barrier <br />that faces away frorn the pool or spa. <br />Please Note: The Code Changes Listed Above Do Not Include All changes to the Code <br />
