Box 996 <br />La Porte, Texas 77572-0996 <br />Dear Ms. Hicks: <br />1 have received the material provided regarding the Chamber of Commerce's request for <br />increasing the City's contribution from the Hotel/Motel Fund for general promotional and <br />tourism activities. <br />I will be recommending a renewal of the agreement and an increased base contribution from <br />$26,000-to $37,500 based on the following provisions; <br />o, Renewal of agreement similar to the previous agreement for a 3-year period. <br />o; A base contribution not to exceed 500 per year. �D no� <br />o' Any increase in the base contribution will be based on the annual performance <br />report and the annual budget submittal by the Chamber and shall be approved by <br />City Council. <br />o Any new special event promoted by the Chamber of Commerce should be included <br />in the annual budget submitted by the Chamber. A one-time contribution for any <br />new special event may be considered by the City based on the merits of the <br />special event and City Council's approval. <br />If City Council approves this approach we, would need to prepare and incorporate appropriate <br />language into the Agreement. <br />Thank you for your continued interest and goal of promoting visitors and tourism for <br />La Porte'. <br />.Sincerely, <br />John Joerns <br />Assistant City Manager <br />
