Box 1218
La Porte, Texas 77571
Dear Mr. Askins:
In reply to your letter of May 31, 1977, regarding the zoning ordinance
for La Porte Municipal Airport, we find that several changes will be
necessary to meet the requirements of Special Condition No. 20 of the
Grant Agreement for Project No. 5-48-0127-02.
Part 77, of the Federal Aviation Regulations, has been changed since -
the original zoning ordinance was passed by the La Porte-Harris County
Joint Zoning Board in 1957, and the area covered by that ordinance
is no longer the area that now should be covered. The airport is
zoned for VFR operations and one runway should be zoned for future
IFR operations.
You should have your engineer draw a new zoning map, and a new Joint -~
Zoning Board should be formed at an early date to bring in the City
of Lomax. The civil airport imaginary surfaces are described in
paragraph 77.25, page 6, and depicted on page 19 of FAR Part 77, copy
of which is enclosed.
We are also enclosing "Instructions and Sample Documents for Preparation
of Airport Zoning" as well as a copy of Advisory Circular 150/5190-3A,
Model Airport Hazard Zoning Ordinance. These brochures should be
helpful to you.
If you have any questions, please contact our office.
Sincerely,
ca_...
~. WILLIAM N.
