CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Engelken at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Members of the Committee Present: Chairperson Chuck Engelken, Councilmembers <br />Mike Mosteit and Peter Griffiths <br /> <br />Members Absent: None <br /> <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: Assistant City Secretary <br />Sharon Harris <br /> <br />Others Present: Spero Pomonis, James Suber, Barbara Suber, Tom Garrett, Ginny <br />Garrett, Laurence Tobin and Mayor Norman Malone <br /> <br />2. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE JUNE 17, 2003 BAYPORT <br />EXPANSION REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Engelken to approve the Minutes of the Bavport <br />Expansion Review Committee Meeting: on June 30. 2003. as presented. Second by <br />Councilmember Griffiths. The motion carried. <br /> <br />3. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND <br />TAXPAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS THE PORT OF HOUSTON <br />EXPANSION REVIEW COMMITTEE <br /> <br />James Suber of 3902 Bonita La Porte, Texas, commended the Committee for their effort <br />on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement and encouraged them to continue with the <br />Final Environmental Impact Statement. <br /> <br />Ginny Garrett of 203 Bay Colony La Porte, Texas, asked the Committee to consider the <br />impact Bayport Expansion would have on the Bay Colony residents and the entire <br />community. <br /> <br />Tom Garrett of 203 Bay Colony La Porte, Texas, expressed his concern of the impact of <br />property values going down in the community due to Bayport Expansion, <br /> <br />Laurence Tobin, Mayor Pro-Tern of Taylor Lake Village, commended the Committee for <br />their efforts and desires the best solution for Bayport Expansion and the local cities, <br /> <br />4. DISCUSS AND REVIEW FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STUDY FOR THE <br />PORT OF HOUSTON AUTHORITY'S PROPOSED BAYPORT SIDP CHANNEL <br />CONTAINER/CRUISE TERMINAL <br /> <br />The Committee discussed the final document. It was the consensus of the Committee to <br />be sure all the previous items of adverse affect, listed in the previous letter from Council, <br />have been addressed in the final study. <br />
