<br />CODE COMMENTS/ <br />AMENDMENT EXPLANATIONS <br />2006 CODE EDITIONS <br /> <br />NOTE: Changes noted in this document reference existing or needed changes to the <br />City's Code of Ordinances as they relate to adoption, use and enforcement of <br />construction codes. All existing Code of Ordinance amendments are noted as "No <br />Change" and are not bolded. Bolded sections represent proposed amendments. <br /> <br />INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL CODE (IRC). (2006 Edition) <br /> <br />No Change: <br />Section RIOl.I Title. These provisions shall be known as the Residential Code for One- <br />and Two-Family Dwellings of the City of La Porte, and shall be cited as such and will be <br />referred to herein as "this code". <br /> <br />Delete Amendment: Not applicable, exception was deleted in this code edition. <br />Section RIOl.2 Scope. Exceotion is deleted. <br />(previous deletion was applicable because Int'l. Existing Building Code was not adopted <br /> <br />No Change: <br />Section RI 03.1 Creation of Enforcement Agency. The Inspection Services Division, of <br />the City's Planning Department, shall enforce the building and construction codes of the <br />city. The Chief Building Official shall be known as the code official. <br /> <br />No Change: <br />Section R105.2 Work Exemptfrom Permit. Deletion of Building Permit Exemptions # 1 <br />(accessory structures), #2 (fences), #3 (retaining walls) and #5 (sidewalks/driveways). <br />(permits ensure proper placement as per zoning regulations and ensures use of mesh/re- <br />bar in concrete.) <br /> <br />No Change: <br />Section RI12 Board of Appeals. Deletion of entire section (Sections R112.1 thru <br />RI12.4) <br />(City has separate ordinance creating a Building Codes Appeal Board) <br /> <br />New Amendment: Code definition limited size to 3,000 sq. ft. which conflicts with <br />allowable size (5,000 sq. ft.) for Large Lot District accessory buildings. <br />Section R202 Definitions. Accessory Structure/Building means a detached, <br />subordinate structurelbuilding, the use of which is clearly incidental and related to <br />that of the principal structurelbuilding or use of the land, and which is located on <br />the same lots as that of the principal structurelbuilding or use. <br />
