<br /> <br />BUILDING CODE APPEALS BOARD <br />(Ordinance #04-2733-A) <br /> <br />In December 2004, the Building Code Appeals Board (BCAB) was created to hear and <br />decide appeals of orders, decisions or determinations relative to the application and <br />interpretation of the adopted building codes. <br /> <br />The Board has the following powers: <br />1. To hear and decide appeals from the determination of a Building Official where it <br />is alleged that on a claim that the true intent of the building and construction <br />codes have been incorrectly interpreted, that the provisions do not fully apply, or <br />that an equally good or better fonn of construction is proposed. The Board shall <br />have no authority to waive requirements of the code. <br /> <br />2. BCAB is to conduct a regular comprehensive review of the codes adopted and has <br />the power to recommend to the City Council changes, additions or deletions from <br />said codes for any reason including the following: <br />a. Defects in the text of the codes; <br />b. Deficiencies created by improper or lax administration of the codes; or <br />c. Inconsistency with the State Statutes or judicial decisions. <br /> <br />Applications for an appeal can be obtained in person at La Porte City Hall - Inspection <br />Services Division (604 W.
