<br />FIXTURES, FAUCETS AND FIXTURE FITTINGS <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />vertical in 12 units horizontal (2-percent slope) and shall be <br />sloped toward the fixture drains and be securely fastened to <br />the waste outlet at the seepage entrance, making a <br />water-tight joint between the liner and the outlet. The com- <br />pleted liner shall be tested in accordance with Section 312.9. <br /> <br />Exceptions: <br /> <br />1. Floor surfaces under shower heads provided for <br />rinsing laid directly on the ground are not required <br />to comply with this section. <br /> <br />2. Where a sheet-applied, load-bearing, bonded, <br />waterproof membrane is installed as the shower <br />lining, the membrane shall not be required to be <br />recessed. <br /> <br />417.5.2.1 PVC sheets. Plasticized polyvinyl chloride <br />(PVC) sheets shall be a minimum of 0.040 inch (1.02 <br />mm) thick, and shall meet the requirements of ASTM D <br />4551. Sheets shall be joined by solvent welding in accor- <br />dance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. <br /> <br />417.5.2.2 Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) sheets. <br />Nonplasticized chlorinated polyethylene sheet shall be a <br />minimum 0.040 inch (1.02 mm) thick, and shall meet the <br />requirements of ASTM D 4068. The liner shall be joined <br />in accordance with the manufacturer's installation <br />instructions. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />417.5.2.3 Sheet lead. Sheet lead shall not weigh less <br />than 4 pounds per square foot (19.5 kglm2) coated with <br />an asphalt paint or other approved coating. The lead <br />sheet shall be insulated from conducting substances <br />other than the connecting drain by 15-pound (6.80 kg) <br />asphalt felt or its equivalent. Sheet lead shall be joined by <br />burning. <br /> <br />417.5.2.4 Sheet copper. Sheet copper shall conform to <br />ASTM B 152 and shall not weigh less than 12 ounces per <br />square foot (3.7 kg/m2). The copper sheet shall be insu- <br />lated from conducting substances other than the connect- <br />ing drain by 15-pound (6.80 kg) asphalt felt or its <br />equivalent. Sheet copper shall be joined by brazing or <br />soldering. <br /> <br />417.5.2.5 Sheet-applied, load-bearing, bonded, <br />waterproof membranes. Sheet-applied, load-bearing, <br />bonded, waterproof membranes shall meet requirements <br />of ANSI A118.10 and shall be applied in accordance <br />with the manufacturer's installation instructions. <br /> <br />417.6 Glazing. Wmdows and doors within a shower enclosure <br />shall conform to the safety glazing requirements of the Interna- <br />tional Building Code. <br /> <br />SECTION 418 <br />SINKS <br /> <br />418.1 Approval. Sinks shall conform to ANSI Z124.6, ASME <br />A112.19.1M, ASME A112.19.2M, ASME A112.19.3M, <br />ASME A112.19.4M, ASME A112.l9.9M, CSA B45.1, CSA <br />B45.2, CSA B45.3 or CSA B45.4. <br /> <br />32 <br /> <br />,~.. <br /> <br />418.2 Sink waste outlets. Sinks shall be provided with waste <br />outlets a minimum of 11/2 inches (38 mm) in diameter. A <br />strainer or crossbar shall be provided to restrict the clear open- <br />ing of the waste outlet. <br /> <br />418.3 Moveable sink systems. Moveable sink systems shall <br />comply with ASME Al12.19.12. <br /> <br />SECTION 419 <br />URINALS <br /> <br />419.1 Approval. Urinals shall conform to ANSI Z124.9, <br />ASME A112.19.2M ASME A112.19.19 SA B45.l or CSA <br />B45.5. Urinals shall co orm to the water consumption <br />requirements of Section 604.4. Water-supplied urinals shall <br />conform to the hydraulic performance requirements of ASME <br />Al12.19.6, CSA B45.1 or CSA B45.5. <br /> <br />419.2 Substitution for water closets. In each bathroom or toi- <br />let room, urinals shall not be substituted for more than 67 per- <br />cent of the required water closets in assembly and educational <br />occupancies. Urinals shall not be substituted for more than 50 <br />percent of the required water closets in all other occupancies. <br /> <br />[B] 419.3 Surrounding material. Wall and floor space to a <br />point 2 feet (610 mm) in front of a urinal lip and 4 feet (1219 <br />mm) above the floor and at least 2 feet (610 mm) to each side of <br />the urinal shall be waterproofed with a smooth, readily <br />cleanable, nonabsorbent material. <br /> <br />}t <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />SECTION 420 <br />WATER CLOSETS <br /> <br />420.1 Approval. Water closets shall conform to the water con- <br />sumption requirements of Section 604.4 and shall conform to <br />ANSI Z124.4, ASME A112.19.2M, CSA B45.1, CSA B45.4 <br />or CSA B45.5. Water closets shall conform to the hydraulic <br />performance requirements of ASME A 112.19.6. Water closet <br />tanks shall conform to ANSI Z124.4, ASME A112.19.2, <br />ASME A1l2.l9.9M, CSA B45.1, CSA B45.4 or CSA B45.5. <br />Electro-hydraulic water closets shall comply with ASME <br />A112.19.13. <br /> <br />420.2 Water closets for public or employee toilet facilities. <br />Water closet bowls for public or employee toilet facilities shall <br />be of the elongated type. <br /> <br />420.3 Water closet seats. Water closets shall be equipped with <br />seats of smooth, nonabsorbent material. All seats of water clos- <br />ets provided for public or employee toilet facilities shall be of <br />the hinged open-front type. Integral water closet seats shall be <br />of the same material as the fixture. Water closet seats shall be <br />sized for the water closet bowl type. <br /> <br />420.4 Water closet connections. A 4-inch by 3-inch (102 mm <br />by 76 mm) closet bend shall be acceptable.
