<br /> applicant for the office of Plumbing inspector and make receom-
<br /> mendations to the council submitted the foll.ov~ing.

<br /> the ~uestionaires turned in b y the applicants for plumbing inspec-
<br /> for fro the city of La Porte, hereby wish to reccommend J R uJilliams
<br /> for the position. ~

<br />'~ A motion was made by alderman Ruff seconded by
<br />~i
<br />~-~~~" Alderman Sandel thatthe receommendation of the committee be
<br /> accepted, that Mr. J R vyilliams be employed as plumbing inspector
<br /> and that the committee be discharged.
<br /> Carried,
<br /> A tax ordinance providing for the levying assessing
<br /> and collecting of an Advalorem tax for the yBar 1931 was read.
<br /> Alderman Sandel offered a motion seconded by Alderman Ruff that
<br /> the ordinance be adopted and that thn rule requiring that an
<br /> ordinance be read at three separate meetings be suspended and that
<br /> the ordinance become effective and in full force on the date of
<br /> its introduction.
<br />` The secretary called the roll which resulted as
<br />. follows. Aldermen Ruff yes, H T Wall yes, L Sandel yes, Geo Sharp..
<br /> yes, and Le Roy Tolle, yes.
<br /> There being a unanimous vote in favor of the
<br /> adoption of the ordinance the mayor declared ordinance ;~ 239 in
<br /> full force and effect.
<br /> The Gulf Cities Natural Gas Co. asked for and
<br /> interpitation of section three of ordinance ~ 238 which reads as
<br />~"~~' "follows, " No person, firm or corporation shall do any plumbing
<br /> of any character, or repair any plumbing works or change any
<br />` plumbing work until the owner of said premises or plumbing con-
<br />1 tracbor shall have made application for and recieve a permit from
<br />~
<br />~' the city for such plumbing work, setting out-in said application
<br />,
