Ruff reported that it would be necessary for the City Council to mako an <br />adjustment on the water account of Dr. T.L Holland, tenant in the L~I.H.James <br />cottage below Sylvan Beach, due to the fact that the meter at that place was <br />a cubic foot Neptune meter and had been improperly read causing. an excess <br />charge to be made ~n the Dr Holland account. <br />Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Agee that the City Sec'y be authorized <br />to make proper adjustment on the said Dr Holland account and to issue City <br />V~arrant in settlement thereof. Carried. <br />Closing City Hall of~"ice Sat. P.li. <br />Ald. Ruff introduced the matter~of closing the City Hall office on Saturday <br />afternoon beginning Oct. 1st. After. discussion Ald.-Boyle offered a motion ~'~` <br />that the matter be deferred until the next regular meeting night. Motion <br />carried. <br />Belt ~. Pulley- Pump Ho~~se <br />Motion by Ald. Ruff, second by Ald. Boyle that hhe matter of making necessary <br />changes in the belt and pulley at the pump house be turned over to the Vlater <br />Com. to canvass bids and that the Com. be given power to act. Carried <br />Cleaning alleys <br />motion by Ald, Ruff second by Ald. Agee that the Street aril Alley Com. b® given <br />authority to clean alleys of firehazards and to hire whatever help may be needed <br />in doing this work. Carried. ' <br />~~ <br />Check-up on ~!n. La France - <br />Ald. Boyle reported that the American. La France pumper is An need of a general <br />check up and asked that the City Sec~y be instructed to write the America: La <br />France people requesting them to send their traveling repair man to La Porte <br />to make this the ck up when he is in this vicinity. Motion by Ald. Boyne, second <br />by Ald. Agee that the Fire Com. be given power to act in this matter. Carried <br />Side-walk- Johnson Bldg. I.:ain St• <br />The City Sec~y was instructed by the Council to write Mr N,A, Jml~nson in re- <br />gard to the sidewalk fronting his new building on Main St. that in-as much as <br />there was a sidewalk in good condition in front of this property before build- <br />ing operations began , also due to the fact that a permit should have been taken <br />out in advance and the new sidewalk built according to specifications of the City <br />that the City will be unable to pay any part of the cost of the new sidewalk. <br />Sou.
