Benson ".R. Boyle, Fred R. Ruff. Ald. b.N. Agee <br />came in to the meeting at a little later time. <br />Resolution <br />P"",iinutes of the last regular and two special meetings were read and <br />approved. <br />T.g. F~aldrop,~ Vies: Pres, and Gen. hanager of the Southern Pacific Transport <br />Company appeared before the Council in the interest of removal of the <br />restrictions from the Certificate issued by the Texas Railway Commmission <br />to the Southern Pacific Transport Co. on its route through La Porte. <br />Cn motion of Ald. Ruff, second by Ald. Benson, the follav:ing resolution <br />rues unanimously passed by the City Counoil, to wit, <br />'~'~ ~' ,the Texas Railroad Commission issued Certificate 29.5 to the <br />Southern Pacific Transport Cn~mpany and therein prohibited such Company <br />from serving the City of La Port® by motor truck on freight originating <br />at Houston and ~or Galveston, Texas; and, <br />SEAS, such restriction is a discrimination against the City because <br />it perr.~i.ts such Compar:y to serve other cities on its route through La <br />Porte but witholds such needed sez~rice from the City of La Porte; <br />NOi~, TII~EFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTS, TEkAS, that a protest be filed with the Texas F,ailway Coamnis- <br />sion at its hearing to be held at Houston, Texas on ~~a,y 20,1937, re- <br />questing the Comrn,ission to re-issue a Certificate of Public Conven- <br />ience and Pdeeessity to the Southern Facific Transport Company without <br />restrictions so that the City of La Porte may enjoy the same complete <br />and unrestricted service as is afforded other towns on the route through <br />La Porte. Further, that the ~Tayor and City Secretary be instructed to <br />send a certified copy of this resolution to the Railroad Co~unission <br />at its hearing to be held on the application of the Southern Pacific <br />Transport Company for the removal of such restrictions. <br />Bills On motion by Ald.
