• • <br />MINUTES OF <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 20,1937, 8:00 P.Pd. <br />Meeting was called to order by Mayor Protein Fred R. Ruff, with the fol- <br />lowing Aldermen responding to roll call: C.Pl. Agee, P.L. Benson, F.R. <br />Boyle, J.J. Roark, Fred R. Ruff. Mayor Sharp Dame in to the meeting <br />at a little later time. <br />Mayor Pro tem Ruff stated that the purpose of the meeting was to open <br />the bids and discuss the painting of the Water Tower and Tarilt. <br />Bids Two bids had been submitted by Mr C.E. Langford of Houston, there were <br />Water Tower no other bids. Mr Lar~fordts first was opened and rejected as too high, <br />~ T~ the seoond bid by Mr Langford was accepted as revised and after discus- <br />sion Motion was made by Ald. Agee, second by Roark that the City award <br />the Contract for Labor for cleaning and painting the Water Tower and <br />Tank to C.E. Langford on his amended bid of X235.00, on the City's spec- <br />ifications, all paint to be furnished by the City Carried. <br />There being a full Council present the following additional matters were <br />taken up• <br />Ax-&~orizing the City Secretary to draw a warrant on the Delinquent Tax Fund, <br />authorizing the Special Building Committee to advance pay roll to Ted <br />Cowley on garage building. <br />F.rarrant "lotion by Agee, second by Benson, that the City Secretary be authorized <br />Taxes to issue a warrant on the Delinquent fax Fund to recover 1835 taxes in <br />the amount of $11.55, being taxes of L.T. Lobit for X8.55 and taxes of <br />Dr AL. Henderson for X3.00 which went to the Delinquent Tax Fund but <br />should have been distribfrted to the Int~~ Sinkg and General Funds. <br />Carried <br />Advance Motion by Boyl®, second by Roark, that the Special Building Committee <br />Fay Roll on the Garage and Tooi House be authorized to advance Ted Cowley the <br />necessary money for his pay roll each weeks to pay his labor on the <br />building.
