I ~ <br />2 • • <br />Insurance The City Secretary presented an insurance policy covering fire and <br />theft on the American La France Ladder Truck, in the amount of X1,000.00 <br />vrhich had been submitted for the approval of the Council by Frank G. <br />Baker. <br />1~~_etion by Ruff, second by Benson, that the matter of the insurance on <br />the American La France ladder truck, which expires Febrsary 28,19.0, <br />be turned over to the Fire Committee for investigation and renevral. <br />Carried. <br />Following the reading of a letter from the Texas League of 1!~unicipalities <br />on the scale of penalties and interest to be charged on 1939 delinquent <br />taxes, 1L!ayor Sharp presented an ordinance covering the matter. <br />Ord. No.279 l~iotion by Roark, second by Benson that Ordinance No. 279, being <br />Int. & Pen. AN ORDINANCE FIXIATG THE TINE AND L~YAI`TNER OF PAYTIITG THE .f~D VALOREr.i <br />TAXES LEVIED FOR THE USE AND BENEFIT OF THE GOVERIv'P~NT OF THE CITY OF <br />LA PORTE, TEXAS, be adopted as read. <br />Carried. <br />hest Realty Co The City Secretary presented a letter from~~~est Realty and Investment <br />Block 7,L.P. Co. of Houston, Texas, stating `that they 'were contemplating the erect- <br />ion of a number of modern bungalows in Block 7, La Porte and asking for <br />estimates on the cost of sh411ing streets and extension of se<~rer and <br />water mains to serve this block. <br />~'=otion by Agee, second by Roarl~ that the request of Vest Realty Co. <br />be turned over to the chairmen of the Street & Alley Com., the Serrer <br />Com. and the ~Jater Com., to prepare estimates of costs on the items <br />mentioned in ~dests letter of Februar~r 23rd., that the estimates be <br />turned over to the City Secretary, vrho was instructed to forward them <br />to the hest Realty Co. with a fetter stating any requirements r,~de by <br />the City. <br />` ~ Cara•ied. <br />The Mayor read the follovring election order: <br />Election Be it ordered by the'T~.rayor and City Council of La Porte, <br />order Texas that the annum. election be held at the City Hall Building in <br />said City of La Porte, on the 2nd day of April,~19I~0, for the purpose <br />of electing two members to the Board of Aldermen, the ~:ayor,the City <br />Secretary and Tax Assessor and-Collector and the City ~1a.rshal of said <br />City. <br />It is further ordered that said election be held in the manner <br />prescribed by law for holding such elections. <br />It is further ordered that the returns of such election be <br />delivered to the City Council of said City, in open session, as soon <br />as practicable after the closing of the polls. <br />It is further ordered 'that proper notice of such election <br />be published in the official newspaper. <br />T:Totion by Agee, second by Benson, that the above election order, be ` <br />passed as read. <br />Carried. <br />(cont'd on pg.3) <br />
