i ,-; <br />MINUTES - SPECIAL T+~ETING <br />LA PORTE CITY CODihiISSION -MAY 11, 1~8 <br />10:00 A. M. <br />Special meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. J. <br />Pfeiffer, with the following members and city officials present: Commiss- <br />ioners Jas . S. Crate, Jr. and Jas . E. Stewart, John T. I~ic Afee and John <br />~'7ithers, representing Y~yatt C. Hedrick, City Engineer, A. H. Lambert, Ed- <br />itor and owner of the La Porte Reporter, Raleigh Erwin, Supt. of Public <br />WorTo3, Jno. S. Kiibler, City Attorney, and J. E. Muldoon, City Clerk. <br />Dlr. Fred L. Sharp, agent for the Ka.rpark Corporation, appeared before the <br />Commission, and offerod the City 170 Automatic Parking meters for X71.50 <br />each, and to be paid for out of 50J of the gross receipts. <br />Motion by Stewart, seoond by Crate, to authorize the D~Iayor to execute a <br />contract with the Karpark Corporation t o install 170 meters on both sides <br />of Main Street from lath Street to the Five Point Corner, contract being <br />subject to the City Attorney's approval. <br />Carried. <br />The Commission authorized Commissioner Crate to contact the Atlantic, .Gulf <br />and Pacific Ccnn.par~y in an effort to secure three (3) 20~ - l~.8" Pontocros . <br />Motion by Stewart, seoond by Crate, to authorize A. H. Lambert, Sr. to <br />print 1000 parking tickets, three copies each, as bid X17.00, and 1000 <br />traffic tickets, four copies each, as bid X26.00, upon approval of proof. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Crate, second by Stewart, to authorize the South Texas Equipment <br />Company to sell the small city grader for X2000.00, for 5~ commission and <br />provided the City m~.y withdraw such authorizaticm at any time. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Crate, second by Stewart, to authorize a ten day paid vacation <br />for G. W. Fisher. <br />Carried. <br />The Commission instructed the City Clerk to write Dewey Triplett that he <br />must connect to the city sewer system. <br />D~lotion by Crate, second by Stewart, that the following Resolution be <br />adopted: <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, the United States Fost Office Department is considering <br />establishing house to house mail delivery inside the City of La Porte, and <br />WHEREAS, the Post Office Department requires that the streets in the <br />City be named in an orderly and systematic manner and that such streets <br />
