Special meeting of the City Commmission was called to order by Mayor Pfeiffer, with the following members and City officials present : Com- missioners Jas. S. Crate, Jr. and Jas. E. Stewart, Supt. of Public i~lorks Raleigh Erwin, John T. Mc Afee representing Wyatt C. Hedrick, City Engineer, A. H. Lambert, owner and Editor of the La Porte Re- porter, City Attorney Jno. S. Kiibler, and City Clerk J. E. i~4uldoon. R~lajor B. C. Caldwell of the State Adjutant staff of the Texas Nation- '` al Guard, and George Counts, appeared before the Commission and re- quested their cooperation in securing a R?ational Guard Armory for La Porte . Motion by Crate, second by Stewart, to pay Ed Niles for work perform- ed, subject to City Engineer's approval. Carried. Motion by Crate, second by Stewart, to pay the election board members of April 6, 19.8, the sum of X10.00 each. Carried. Motion by gate, second by Stewart, to pay L. E. Ert~ri.n, .Special Offi- cer appointed by the Presiding Judge to preserve order at the polls, the sum of X10.00. Carried. Motion by Stewart, second by Crate, to re-employ the following offi- cers, for compensation as follows: Jno. S. Kiiblor - City- Attorney _____________ _____ X150.00 per month J. E.
