C. 0. Crenshaw, advised <br />them this was not necessary, and they had gone to an additional expense to wire <br />the water well and barn as their representative had advised them, and they do <br />not feel like they should be put to further expense in changing over, and if <br />the Houston Lighting & Posner Company demanded this, then they should pay the <br />additional expense involved. Cdr. Joplin informed the Commission that i~efore <br />he could authorize ar~y payment to the city to coves the additional expense <br />involved, he would have to take the matter up with his superior. <br />Mr. C. M. Agee and ~.~r. Edward Cade, representing property owners on North <br />Second Street, between Fdain and "A" Street, petitioned the city to curb and <br />gutter this section of t he street. They did, hrnlever, want the city to <br />commi_tt themselves in that theyti~rould provide an opening through the curb, <br />so that the Hovey Building rain water could drain to the valley of the <br />gutter. <br />~Jiotion by Burgin, second by Jones, authorizing the City Clerk to give the <br />contractor, tiY, J. Daples, a work order to construct the curb and gutter on <br />this section of the street, i~Then the property owners had all given their <br />checks to the Gity Clerk, and to provide an opening through the curb so <br />as to gain the rain ti;rater from the Hovey Building to the valley guttex. <br />Carried. <br />After much discussion, the Commission unar~i.awusly agreed to curb and gutter <br />the following streets for X1.50 per lineal foot to the property owner, the <br />city to do all engineering work and rough grading:, <br />South First Street from brain to A <br />South Second Street from Bain to A <br />South Third Street from 264ain to A <br />South Fourth Street from main to A <br />North First Street from b4ain to Polk <br />Pdorth Second Street from b4ain to Polk <br />North Third Street fra2n b4ain to Polk <br />North Fourth :treat from gain to Polk <br />The City Clerk read a letter to the City Commission, dated January 16, 1952, <br />from the Federal Government in connection with Project No, Tex.l~l-P551. The <br />Commission referred this letter to the City Attorney. <br />
