<br />Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayer Burgin, with
<br />the fb73owing m~nbers and city officials present: Commissioners L.R. Rigby and
<br />Robert A, tNhite, Supt. of Public Works W.A. Arthur, City Attorney Ed.~rd J. Cade,
<br />Firs Ghief J. 0. Rollins, Chief of Police falter M. Roberson, and City Clerk J.E.
<br />Muldoon.
<br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and appro~red.
<br />A discussion was held on the Rubin Glass Company's statement. After discussion,
<br />the Commission authorized. the Mayor to settle this statement with Rubin Glass Co.
<br />J. 0. Rollins, Fire Chief, appeared bafore the Commission and recommended C. L,
<br />Evans far the position of paid fireman. He recommended that he be paid X200.00
<br />per month, .and be furnished living quarters and utilities grat3.s. He stated,
<br />also, that Evans would do the janitor work 3n both buildings fcr this sum.
<br />Motion by Rigby second by White, to employ C, L. Evans at ~200,E~? per month,
<br />living quarters and utilities funished, Evans to do all jarrl.tor wrc~rk, in addition
<br />to his regular ~.uties.
<br />Carried.
<br />Mayor Burgin stated he had talked over the telephone with Mr. Loge, of the South-
<br />ern Pacific Railroad, in connection with Flasher Type Signal. Light at railroad
<br />crossing,an Spencer H3gh~ay. Mr. Lowe told him that he had ordered this flasher
<br />type signal light some time ago from the factory, but that they had not received
<br />it as of this date. However,, upc~a receiving this flasher type signs]. ligk:t,
<br />they would have it immediately installed.
<br />A discussion was held an "J" Street, in connection with materials to be furnished
<br />in the construtitioa~ of "8th" and "d" streets by the County. In this discussion,
<br />it was brought anzt that the City would purchase the material for "J" Street, if
<br />the County ~rould do the a~nstruction.
<br />Motion by ~Thite, second by Rigbyr, to purchase 2,162 tons of material, in accor-
<br />dance with their agreement made with Mr. W, Kyle Chapman, County Commissioner,
<br />Carried.
<br />Mti'. W.A. Arth~, Public Works Superintendent, stated that he had been offered one
<br />used Caterpillar l2 Maintainer, for X5,000.00, less trade-in allcs+rance of one
<br />used Galion Maintainer, valued at X1,250.00, which would make the price of the
<br />used maintainer ~3,750.0o cash.
