167 <br />LA PORTS CITY COMND:SSION - NOVEMBgt 6, 193 <br />10:00 A. M. <br />Regular meeting of t he City Commission was called to areler by Mayor M. D, Burgin <br />with the follo~.ng members and city officials present: Commissioner Robert A, <br />WY~ite, City Attorney Edward J. Cade Supt. of Public Works W. A. Arthur and <br />Gity C 1 erk J, E. Pduldoon, <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />Mrs. C.C. Whitmire and Mrs. W. B. Byrd appeared before the Commission in conn- <br />ection with c~r3inage on Lobit Street, claiming water runs' all over their property <br />instead of fo].I:owing the natural drainage. The Commission advised them they <br />would have the City F~ig3.neer go dov~m on the grounds and make a survey. to see <br />if it was feasible to run a ditch from Park Avenue along Lobit Street, and <br />empty into creek running through the Spaarrn property, that is if the other <br />property cars in Blocks 23, 2?~ and 27, Bay Front Addition, were agreeable. <br />The Commission stated they wou7,d advise them of their findings as soon as <br />possible. <br />l+~r. Leo Gaber appeared before the Commission and requested that the City at <br />least pave 125 feet, or dust past his driveway on Hazel Street. He stated <br />that if the other people on this street did not want it, he ~rould not waxrt <br />• to insist that the City run the paving father than his request. <br />Pdr. Maurice Bright and R~', J.D. Morroa+r appeared before the Commission ar~'1 <br />requested they ,pave South Blackwell. Mayor Burgin ans;Mered that he had talked <br />with Commissioner Chapman and he had assured him that if the City wauld cooper- <br />ate,, theyw auld pave South Blackwell, Ma;~ar~ Burgin stated he had given his <br />word to Commissioner Chapman that the City would c ooperate with the County, <br />and that the City would complete Roscoe Avenue after the first of the year. <br />ffiYyan Moore appeared before the Commission and rec}~ ested the Commission to <br />pave "Err Street, from 2nd to 3rd. The Commission advised him that this street <br />was not in the original plans, and at this time they did not have sufficient <br />monies to do this work. They stated that maybe at some later date, it would <br />be possible for thcet to do this. <br />Judge John R. Eckhardt C®rporation Court Judge, and Chief of Police ~Yalter M. <br />Roberson, appeared before the Commission, and a disnnssioa was held on their <br />offices and the amount of fines assessed arbd collected. <br />Motion by ~~Thitet second by Burgin, that Ordinance No. LaS~., being <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR TIiF CC~tSTRUCTION AND M~:INTE~IANCE OF THE PORTION OF <br />STATE HIGHtRAY 225 IN THE CITY f~' LA PORTS, TEXAS, FROM 1ST STRT~T TO l~TH STREET <br />AND THE PORTIC~i OF S.
