201 <br />MINUTES - RDGULAR MEETING <br />LA P(~TE CITY CO~ISSION -APRIL 2ND, 195 <br />10:00 A. M. <br />Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Ma~-or Burgin, <br />with the following members and city officials present: Commissioners L. R. <br />Rigby anti Robe2-t A, Whitey City Attorney Ec~rrard J. Cade Supt. of Public <br />Works R. A. Arthur, and City Clerk J. E. M~.doon. <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />The Mayor ordered the City Clerk to open the bids on painting and repairing <br />the water tower and tank. The City Clerk read the follcnoing bids: <br />LaaRren~ce Service, Inc. X1,850.00 <br />Ace Service 1,190.00 <br />Dixie Tank and Bridge Co. 3,500.00 <br />Pittsburg Tank & Tourer Co. 1.,100.00 <br />Knoblock & Company 1,995.00 <br />The Mayor stated that these bids would be anali~ed., and the bid awarded with- <br />in the Heart fear daysz. <br />A discussion was held on the damage to motor on the ladder fire truck. After <br />much discussion, upon motion by White, second by Rigby, to employ a mechanic <br />from the American La~'rance Corporation to put this truck izi working condition. <br />a Carried. <br />W. A. Arthur, Public forks Superintendent, advised the Commission that he had <br />a good macfy damaged dater meters in the viciu3.ty of Io~ra and Virginia Streets. <br />After Bauch disBUSSion, the C~m.3.ssion instructed Mr. Arthur t® start charging <br />repair bills to the indiv3.dua1 o~rners. <br />The Ccsnmission had a, discussion on the telephone rates, especially pertaining <br />to the La Porte Airport. It was decided to have ~. L. H. Hudson, Unit <br />Manager of the Southwestern Be11 telephone Company, to attend. one of the <br />meetings in the near„future for a discussion on this matter. <br />The City Commassi.on unanimously approved opening 9th Street, from Main to <br />Madison, Polk, from ~.Oth all the` way to the Rai7.road, Madison from 6th to <br />10th, and 11th Street to Madison. <br />Motion by White, second by Rigby, oath©rizing the Gulf Bithulithic Compaigr <br />to repair 100- of curb ar~d gutter on Hi.ghwa~r 11~b, adjacent to Moore & Moores s <br />office, for X290.00., <br />Carried. <br /> <br />
