r ~ / ~~ <br />~~NUTE'S - REGULAR ISEETING <br />LA PORTS CITY COY~IISSIODI - DECEI~f3ER '18, 1959 <br />7;00 P. T:4. <br />Regulayr meeting of the City Corunission was called to order by Ylayor H. P. <br />Pfeiffer, with the following members present: Cc~anissioners Brown, Osbuxn <br />and Lawler, Supt, 1'~. A. Arthur, and Assistant City Clerk h2rs. Ruth Huddle- <br />ston. <br />I!?inutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />A discussion was held on work orders, and it eras unanimously agreed that <br />tdr. Arthur should see that this is done. <br />A discussion on days off, with pay, was held, and it was unanimously agreed <br />that the way it must be handled is either double pay., oar take the ti.r.~e off in <br />lieu of the pay, The rdayor stated that he would rather that the day be taken <br />off, as this was the way it was intended. The option on whether the Wen work- <br />ing under rifr. Arthur, work or take the day off, will be left up to hi~a. He <br />stated that he would rather not let they accu-xulate holidays that fall on <br />a Saturday or Sunda4Y. <br />The P.4ayor introduced Ordinance No. 579, which was read in full. After reading <br />same, it was determined that the ordinance Wade no r~.ention of gas inspections <br />for new buildings, and that this should be included. The ordinance was tabled <br />until the City Attorney could re write it, arxY including the section calling <br />f or a gas inspection on any new building. <br />r.4ayor Pfeiff er stated t,iat Carlos Smith had asked him what the feeli no of the <br />Carxr+ission was on valley gutters across the streets. The Mayor explai~ied that <br />v^lley gutters were a valley across the street to drain water frog one side <br />of street to the other, He stated that P,4r.S:~i.th had talked about raving them <br />approximately every two blocks. The Can~..ission thought this was a good idea, <br />and it would be less expensive, and would not affect the traffic . <br />The Y.Zayor stated that he had asked for an engineers s pro,~ess report, and was <br />told that they would have something to turn in around the rdddle of January. <br />A discussion eras held on what ~. swir±raing pool would cost. It was estimated to <br />be in the neighborhood of ~L~5,000. <br />r4otion by Os burn, second by Lawler, to re-set the regular meeting of .January <br />~.st to December 30, 1959. <br />Carried. <br />The Mayor stated that at the next regulax meeting, discussion would e held <br />on the purchase of land for colored recreation facilities, and also i s <br />would be taken on swi.m~ing pool. <br /> <br />~1 <br />
