<br />La Forte City Commission <br />La ~"ort a, Texas <br /> <br />April 2b, 1962 <br />Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners: <br />In a special meeting of the La Forte Planning and Zoning <br />Commission held ~iednseday night, April 25, a request was <br />presented by John Kraak to re zone and re classify Block 1111 <br />La Porte, from "C" Single Family Dwelling District to "E" <br />Apartment Buildings, Duplexes and/or any other Multiple Dwelling <br />Districts in order that he may construct an Apartment Hous® <br />Pro joct, <br />A motion to re zone and re classify Block 1111, La Porte, <br />from "C" Sin le Family Dwelling District to "'L't Apartment Buildings, <br />?duplexes and~or any other Iultiple Dwelling District, and so <br />recommend to the City Commission of the City cg' La Porte, was <br />approved with no dissenting vote by members of the La Porte <br />Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />We urgently request that you give this matter your d~mmediate <br />attention and look favorably on the project as ~Vir. Kraak and his <br />architect, Jack Castles, has cooperated full~e commission on <br />several suggested changes and specify that the building will be <br />of brick veneer construction. The apartment house project proposed <br />by Mr. Kraak is to encompass the entire block, fi® be built in the <br />form of a square with an enclosed court yard, to be landscaped, <br />with a centrally located swimming pool, The apartment project is <br />to contain 64 units, four 3 bedroom units, twenty 2 bedroom units <br />and forty 1 bedroom units, One bedroom units are to rent for <br />X110.00 per months two bedroom units for X135.00 per month, and <br />three bedroom units for X160.00 per month, He states that he plans <br />to occupy one of the apartments himself and that others are being <br />rented at this time, <br />A motion :vas also approved by members of the commission t© <br />recommend t}~at the City Commission r© zone and re classify the <br />~ ~ ~~ half of Blocks 29l~. and 305, and the west half of Block <br />31, on San Jacinto Street, from Single Family Dwelling Distriet~ <br />to "B" Commercial or Local Retail District. <br />La Pm to Planning & Zoning <br />Commission <br />e <br />E s e Moore, C a:Crman-" <br />by <br />Ewell Brigham, Secretary <br />
