• 99. <br />4. Motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, <br />seconded by Commissioner Stabs, to pass Ordinance No. 679 <br />on first and final reading. Caption as follows. Motion <br />carried. <br />AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING DIRECTOR OF CIVIL DEFENSE FOR <br />THE CITY OF LA FORTE. <br /> <br />• <br />5. Chief H. F. Freeman recommended to the City <br />Commission that an Ordinance be passed prohibiting inoper- <br />able parked cars, boats and trailers from being parked or <br />abandoned on city streets. It was moved by Commissioner <br />Stabs, seconded by Commissioner Osborn that the Commission <br />pass an ordinance to this effect. Mayor Pfeiffer instructed <br />City Attorney Pitman to prepare ordinance for the next meeting. <br />Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 679 <br />RE: APPOINTMENT OF <br />CIV. DL-F. DIR. <br />ATTY TO PREPARE O®D- <br />! NANCE <br />RE: INOPERABLE CARS <br />& OTHER VEHICLES <br />6. City Engineer Smith asked the Commission of NEEDS OF SHELL NEAR <br />their intenttons for shelling areas adjoining Recreation REC. CENTER STUDIED <br />Center concession stand from "E" Street extension, west of <br />San Jacinto. Commissioner Baker will check the needs of <br />this location and authorize work to be done at next regular <br />meeting. <br /> <br />7. City Attorney Pitman reported to the Commission REPORT ON DEL. TAX <br />that a total of one hundred eighteen tax suits have been pre- SUITS FILED <br />pared in connection with collectionof delinquent taxes. Fifty- <br />seven of these have been filed and City Clerk Clovis Mann has <br />been nofified. To date $ 5,800.00 has been collected. <br />8. Motion was made by W. A. Stabs, seconded by <br />Commissioner Baker, authorizing a settlement of eighty-one <br />dollars and seventy-seven cents ($ 89.77) for repatrs to <br />automobile owned by William Shoulders, which was damaged by <br />the La Porte Fire Truck en route to a fire. Mayor Pfeiffer <br />instructed City Attorney Pitman to prepare release for Mr. <br />Shoulders, to be signed before payment is made. Motion <br />carried. <br />* • <br />SETTLEMENT OF DAMAGE <br />TO CAR BY FIRE TRUCK <br />9. Mr. Ernest Brown, through Commissioner Osborn, DINNER INVITATION <br />requested the presence of the City Officials at a dinner BY. E.
